Thankfully, the film isn't a simple 90-minute padding of his life story, choosing to use Dixon more as a centre point for exploring the absolute death-tempting madness of the sport itself.

Doesn't reinvent the motorsports racing documentary, but a fine depiction of the team it takes to make even a "Born Racer" a winner.

So while Born Racer is an excellent primer into the world of IndyCars, unlike say Asif Kapadia's Senna, it falls short of being an essential portrait of a sporting legend.
