Rough and uneven, Generational Sins is not the sort of film that will be passed along from father to son. It is, however, an adequate vehicle for MacPherson to demonstrate what he's capable of, and that's worth watching.

It's more reflective of the human experience than many of its pure-hearted brethren. However, it undercuts that authenticity by lacking strong character motivations and details that would make this story of redemption feel truer.

A dreary, overly self-serious faith-based film, with little to distinguish it outside of some swearing.
