Description
Based on the celebrated Off-Broadway musical: HELLO AGAIN chases 10 lost souls across 10 periods in New York City history in a daisy-chained musical exploration of love's bittersweet embrace. The pursued becomes pursuer as they slip in and out of one another's arms, spinning through 10 music-fueled vignettes which come together in 1 soulful circle.

This is a commendably audacious effort by Mr. Gustafson ("Were the World Mine"). The movie musical needs more ambitious creators like him.

Appears to believe it has something poignant and universal to say about love and sex, but it hits not one plausible or emotionally authentic note.

Ten vignettes deal with love and lust. But most of them end up a bust. Still, Audra is a real standout. Her moon song bit deserves a shout!

The techniques of moviemaking distance us, no matter how the camera presses in. The cutting here is quick, the singing prerecorded, the performers' metabolism shut off from ours. We don't share the moments.

Most of them look as if they're simply going through the motions: a head-bob here, a hip-thrust there.
