The series begins with a group of criminals being held in California Prison, the home of Charles Manson. These real criminals give teenagers a taste of life on the ground, where any prisoner can approach children and give them a sense of life risk in prison, which seems pathetic.

If the series actually makes some kids in the viewing audience change their lives, then Shapiro might want to revive "Scared Straight" for future generations. (Does it change viewers? Perhaps another unknown).
