Although the series was really getting its legs in the first season and some of the episodes aren't as good as we see in seasons two and three, it's still well-written and establishes all of the main characters.

It's not a bad gimmick, as it draws attention to the subjectivity involved in interpreting "evidence" or other surfaces.
