The enigmatic Beatrice (Angela Bundalovic) is a standout, as we come to realize she's far more than a doe-eyed damsel in distress.

The Rain is, yes, another post-apocalyptic thing, it's different enough to entice even a jaded genre viewer into yet another grim dystopia.

A dystopian Danish drama driven by conspiracy fears and environmental catastrophe. [...] The three leads [...] are exceptional.

The Rain tries hard and you can sense that there's so much potential there but it feels a bit of a misfire unfortunately for what could be a really compelling watch.

But what The Rain lacks in originality it makes up for by remixing elements of YA fiction, postapocalypse drama, and cli-fi into a gripping kind of mashup.

The overall story, which sometimes feels like a cross between Contagion and The Walking Dead, isn't particularly original... But this doesn't stop The Rain from being entertaining.
